hello you are partner number to and so what you're going to do is your going to you can look at the instructions with the it says to solve each inequality showing off your work in the space provided and circle your answer I'm going to do two examples with you number 1 and number 2 then you're going to check your answers with those of your partner if you've solved the problems correctly your answer should match including the inequality symbol if they do not then you will work with your partner to find and correct the error so your partner partner one they do not have the same problems as you however your answers will be the same and you'll see what I'm talking about after we do the first two examples together a few things about any qualities remember then an inequality is essentially the same thing as an equation meaning that you can just substitute an equal sign in and then change it back to your inequalities the only thing is that you have to be careful when you divide by a negative because we need to divide by a negative coefficient meaning the number next to the letter and the number next to the variable then you have to flip your sign okay so we'll look at an example like that together as well so we're going to practice using distributive property as well so let's take a look at number 1 it says 35 is greater than -5 * 4 - x so we have 35 on the left and we can just keep that there then we have greater than okay then we have negative five times for that gives me and -20 and -5 x negative x - 5 x negative X is going to give you a positive 5X this is the distributive property where you spread the number that outside the parentheses to the numbers inside the parentheses okay so the next up with number one is we have to combine the 20 in the 35 so I'm going to move 20 to the left so to do that I'm going to add 20 on both side K I'm not going to worry about that greater than sign I'm just going to keep it exactly the same okay so now what I'm left with is 35 + 20 that gives me 55 K I'm going to keep my fine the same and then I have on the right remember you created this zero pair okay so that's why those twenties just go away my next step is going to be dividing by 5 on both sides so I will end up with 11 is greater than x which means I can flip it around if I want to write the X first then if 11 is more than x then X to be less than 11 so you'll see how I circled the answer on number 1 this is exactly the type of work that I would like to see from you as well paint let's go to number 2 we have negative x X - 26 is less than or equal to x - 4 time 1 - 2x okay so this one has a lot of steps are going to take it one step at a time so I'm going to take this negative sign okay and I have to turn everything what is in the parentheses I have to give it that that negative side and if it already has a negative sign then it's just going to become positive so negative x x gives me a Negative X okay negative times negative 26 will give me a positive 26 this is called Distributing the negative less than or equal to and then I'm going to have X and now I have to distribute again your partner one did not have to do this but partner to you have to distribute twice in this problem so you have negative for you're going to look at that minus sign and I treated as a negative so negative four times positive one gives you a -4 + -4 * 3 -4 * -2X is going to give you a positive 8 x okay so now you have to do if we are going to have to combine see this x right here and then this positive a tax I'm going to have to combine those okay so let's rewrite this we have negative x + 26 is less than or equal to 9 x -4 hey so the next thing I have to do is I have to move my ex to the other side okay so what I'm going to do it and X tobacco thought k not just one second I'm going to go ahead and change the color okay sorry about that I just went back to stand out to you we're going to add X to both sides okay and for the constants I'm going to do the other part so if I moved to the X to the right I'm going to move that for back to the left okay so that means I'm going to add for to both sides so let's let's go ahead and identifier zero pairs we have a zero pair right here so we're going to be left with constant on the left and then we also have our zero pair right here so we're going to be left with RX term on the right okay so when I got back to purple here let's combine 26 + 4 + we get 30 is less than or equal to 10 x okay so now I'm going to divide by 10 on both sides this looks just like what we've been working with that the equations okay and that gives me 3 is less than x which means that X is greater than 3 your partner will have gotten the same answers on their video and so now your task is to answer the remaining six questions you're going to work you're going to solve yours your partner will solve theirs and you have to get the same answer if you don't get the same answer then you want to check each other's work so that you can try to determine maybe where you made your error okay so best of luck and we will check over your work on Wednesday thank you for listening and have a great day
