Welcome back! My name is Josefina Everett (Josie), and I will be your child's Spanish 1 teacher. I just completed thirty-one years teaching Spanish as a second language here in Texas. I am originally from Puerto Rico, a U.S.A. territory. I received my bachelor’s degree in science of Elementary Education at the Catholic University of Puerto Rico. I also attended Texas Tech University to pursue a master’s degree in educational counseling. I lack one year to complete requirements for my master’s degree in Ed. Counseling. I established the Spanish Program for the lower school in two different private schools here in Lubbock. (Trinity Christian Schools and All Saints Episcopal School) I taught eleven years in private schools and twenty years in public education. (Sixteen years in elementary schools K-6th grade, four years in High School and eleven years at Heritage Middle School). My husband David was born in Minnesota, but he grew up here in Texas. We have been married for 35 years. We have two wonderful children; Travis graduated from Texas Tech University with two undergraduate degrees, one in PR and the other in Creative Writing. He also has a master’s degree in creative writing from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. He writes computer code for an educational company in Houston, Texas. My daughter Christine graduated from Texas Tech University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. We also have two wonderful grandchildren.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends in Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico. Every other year I travel to Puerto Rico to visit my relatives. I draw and paint occasionally. I also like to read and enjoy going to church with my husband. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child this year!
