Introduction:
My name is Kristi Fout. I will be your student’s 7th grade ELAR teacher for 2022-2023. This will start my first full year at Heritage. Mid-year, my family moved to Lubbock due to my husband’s promotion. It was quite the experience to go from teaching 4th graders to 7th graders in the middle of the year. This will be my 25th year to teach. I am so thankful to be at HMS and am looking forward to this year. Teaching is my passion and I hope to instill my love of learning to my students. I will do my best to instill a sense of community and family into my classroom, so that all students feel safe and accepted.
Education:
In May of 1996, I graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education, grades 1-8 and History, grades 1-8 from Southwestern Adventist University. I am ESL and GT certified. I taught 3rd grade for 10 years and then taught GT pull-out classes (grades K-5,) for 4 years before moving to Dripping Springs, where I taught 4th grade for 9 ½ years.
On a personal Note:
I’ve been married for 28 years and have 2 children (girl 19 and boy 15) and 6 cats (we recently acquired a day-old abandoned kitten.) I’m an artist in my spare time. Currently, I am learning to speak, read, and write Korean. I’m also learning to cook some Korean dishes. I love Kpop music (BTS and Monsta X are my favorites.) I love watching Korean television (part of how I am learning to speak it). I also love punk/emo music and am a big concert-goer. (I have tickets to see My Chemical Romance and Weird Al Yankovic this September. I saw Green Day, Fallout Boy(6th time to see them) and Weezer, as well as Monsta X (2nd time to see them) this last May. I collect BTS and Monsta X items and MCR and concert t-shirts and pop figures.
