First Tech Challenge (FTC)

FTC stands for First Tech Challenge. This is our advanced robotics program here at Heritage!  It is a competition series of events for middle school and high school students. There are 4 meets throughout the fall and winter months with an opportunity for advancement beyond. Each team creates and builds their own robot that has to meet specific design criteria and programming. The competition consists of a 2:30 minute match in which each team is partnered with an alliance and competes through a series of obstacles to deliver items to certain areas of the playing field for points. Each meet the teams will compete for a total of 5 matches and the points are accumulated and combined together over the first three meets. Due to the high interest and safety precautions, students are selected through an application process.

The Heritage FTC teams have competed at meets all around the surrounding communities and had a team advance to Regionals in 2022 and 2023. We meet after school during the season for 2-hour practices at least twice a week. Competitions are on Saturdays from 7am-5pm. FTC schedule will be posted when released.
