In an effort to give students a hands-on experience on an atomic scale, 8th grade science students at Heritage Middle School were tasked with creating, presenting (and eating!) edible atoms.
Students used food items to represent protons, neutrons and electrons in creative ways. Pies, pizzas, cookies and more were present in order to show off scientific skills.
“This is such a fun and exciting day filled with atom talk and lots of sugar,” said 8th grade science teacher Heather Gatlin.
After the presentations, students and teachers alike enjoyed the atoms as a tasty close to the afternoon of atomic exploration.
