Frenship Middle and High School Students Selected for All-Region Band

All-Region Band is a competition through the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) and is the first round of the All-State process for high school. At the middle school level, there is only one round of auditions that functions to teach students about the process and recognize student achievement.

Earlier this month, over 550 middle school students from across the area including Plainview ISD, Lubbock ISD, Lubbock Cooper ISD, and Frenship ISD auditioned for a spot in one of three All-Region bands. Last weekend, the Frenship High School band students faced students from across the area for a spot in the High School All-Region Band.

After the grueling audition, 92 middle school students from all four Frenship middle schools were selected to be part of these prestigious bands. The Frenship band staff members from across the middle schools are incredibly proud of the accomplishments of these students.

“All of the Frenship ISD students who auditioned are to be commended for their hard work and passion to become better musicians in the process,” said Elizabeth Ledbetter, Heritage Middle School Director of Bands. “We also celebrate the many students who won placement in one of the region bands. You are a credit to your parents, directors, and Frenship ISD!”

The Frenship High School Band had 99 students earn spots in the Region 16 All-Region Band, making up 41% of the entire band, which was more students than any other school in the region. The next closest school was Lubbock-Cooper with around 51 students earning a spot.

Scott Carter, Frenship High School Director of Bands, stated “This is a testament to the work ethic of our students who are tenacious in their pursuit of excellence, as well as the great teaching of our combined instrumental faculty,” said Carter. “We are so proud of our students for working hard and growing into better musicians by participating in the TMEA audition process. We look forward to the audition in January for those who advanced to Area.”

Out of the 99 All-Region students, Frenship had 70 of them advance to the Area level. They will compete at the TMEA Area A Auditions on January 11, 2025, at Odessa Permian High School.
