Heritage Middle School Student Spreads Christmas Cheer Through Art

Oliva has been a Frenship Tiger since he was in Kindergarten at Westwind Elementary. He is now a Virtual Learning student at Heritage Middle School.

Oliva’s mom, Laura, said she noticed at a very young age that her son was artistically talented.

“Since he was little, maybe around three-years- old he would draw, and even then, I could tell it wasn’t your regular children’s drawings,” Laura said. “Last school year, in September, he was recognized on National Comic Book Day for drawing comic books. He even had them in the Westwind library for the kids to be able to read.”

Laura said this past September, she asked her son to paint Halloween decorations on their business’ windows.

“From that people have been asking him to do different doors and windows,” Laura said. “It’s given him a lot of confidence with his drawing and to be able to try new things.”

Oliva said he likes to paint and draw for the fun of it all. He said he has been practicing often to improve his skills.

“My biggest painting was my first painting on the windows of my parent’s barbershop for Halloween,” Oliva said.

Oliva explained that he has been commissioned by several people since then to paint their windows for the holiday season. He said it is something that he wants to continue in the years to come.

“I think it brightens peoples days, and it inspires young artists,” Oliva said. “It makes me feel good that I have accomplished something like this.”
