Merrie King, Orchestra Director
Mrs. King is excited to join Frenship ISD in the first year of the district’s Orchestra Program. An experienced music educator and orchestra director, she has taught in school districts across Texas with many years of First Division ratings at UIL competitions. For the past five years, Mrs. King and her family have lived in Japan, where she taught High School music classes to military-connected students, leading them to perform at community events and music festivals across both mainland Japan and Okinawa while working with U.S. and Japanese schools. Additionally, Mrs. King’s students were selected to perform for dignitaries of the 2023 G7 summit, including the First Lady of the United States. Besides being a music educator, Mrs. King has traveled and performed both classical and folk music extensively in the United States and Japan and enjoys using music to bridge the cultural divides between diverse communities.
