Frenship ISD Invites Community to Participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, an annual campaign to raise awareness of the disease which affects one in eight women in the United States.

A Breast Cancer Awareness walk is being held in Lubbock on Saturday, October 21, hosted by Brittany and Devins Angels and the East Lubbock Community. The Frenship Wellness Committee is encouraging staff members as well as the Frenship community to attend and support the cause.

Sign-in for the walk is at 8:00 a.m. and the walk begins at 8:30 a.m.

Single walkers cost $10 and Team walkers (a group of two or more) cost $20. The Frenship teams will be entered in a drawing to win a yogurt bar and a winner poster. The winner of the drawing will be chosen on October 25, 2023.

Ashley Fortner, Frenship Human Resources Coordinator, believes that this is a time to educate, reflect, give back, and celebrate.

“This opportunity allows employees the chance to share their passion, celebrate courage and hope, and raise awareness. Employees participate to support survivors, caregivers, and those currently living with Breast Cancer,” said Fortner.

“All proceeds from the walk will go to a local nonprofit and a breast cancer patient or survivor and family to help with financial and medical expenses,” said Fortner. “Community nominations were accepted and will be entered in a drawing.”
